Earth Observation

High-revisit satellite constellations generating terabytes of imagery daily. Nexcope compresses data at the source, cutting downlink costs by an order of magnitude.

Earth Observation

How It Works

01

Capture

High-resolution sensors capture raw multi-spectral imagery in orbit, preparing high-fidelity payloads for immediate onboard processing.

02

Compress

The onboard hardware engine applies bespoke compression algorithms in real time, achieving an ultra-efficient 80x compression ratio housed within a compact 0.5U form factor. The exact ratio is configurable based on mission requirements, from lossless to maximum lossy.

03

Transmit

Processed data is downlinked at a fraction of the original bandwidth, enabling seamless edge-deployed transmission over highly constrained communication links.

04

Reconstruct

The ground station client reconstructs the data streams with preserved fidelity, yielding sub-meter precision for analytical applications.

Actual Edge Test Results

Grayscale Image Compression

In this experiment, a live image has been captured of high resolution (3000 x 4000 pixels) of size 12.20 MB; and compressed 80 times to a size of 150 kB. The compressed format is later reconstructed to full image resolution (3000 x 4000) and displayed side by side for visual comparison.

Colored Video Compression

In this experiment, Ultra Compression has been used on colored video feed coming from a High-Resolution Webcam (1024x1024). Evidently, the latency is acceptable and the reconstruction after ultra compression does not affect details and the integrity of video is maintained.

Image Compression & Wireless Transmission

In this experiment, an Image has been acquired on the on-board computer, compressed to 80 times and transmitted over 435MHz (UHF) at 675kHz bandwidth. The image is reconstructed to full resolution at the base station. Previously, this would require an S-Band communication system. This proves that Nexcope's Technology can transform bulk image transmissions for Aerial Vehicles limited on bandwidth.

Our Origins

About Us

From Student Satellite to Aerospace Venture

NEXCOPE PVT LTD was incubated in 2025 as a direct spin-off of the maiden Student Satellite Project (SS AMU SAT) developed at Aligarh Muslim University, India.

What started as an academic research endeavor to solve remote sensing bottlenecks quickly evolved. Today, our core focus is developing state-of-the-art, onboard Ultra Image Compression Technology.

By qualifying our designs to TRL-5, we provide plug-and-play payload boards and licensable compression software built to operate flawlessly in the harsh environment of space.
